Malahide Residence I

The clients brief for this Malahide residence was to create a cosy, light filled family home, a restful space for the family to unwind in after busy days at work and school. The house was built in 2008 and has great proportions internally. Sensitive changes were made to the original flow in rooms, allowing for a more family friendly use of the main living areas. The clients requested a library room with no television as a priority. The main focus in this room became a beautiful bespoke bookcase and oak clad fireplace. Working closely with our expert joiners we designed a beautiful oak cladding to make the most of the existing minimal fire insert and to highlight the proportions of the chimney breast. Beautiful natural stone was cut to create a clean and minimal surround and firewood niches added. Fabrics and paint colours were kept to restful tones to aid in the tranquil atmosphere we aimed to create in this space.

The dining area on the ground floor was re imagined to maximise space and double the number of guests that can be seated at the extra large dining table. This space is the main hub of the busy household, a place to cook, eat, relax and entertain guests. A large dining bench was designed for the space and made by master craftsman and upholstered in a hard wearing stain resistant fabric for a luxuriously comfortable dining experience. Homeschooling, family dining and entertaining, it all happens in this room. Fire doors were designed for the space taking inspiration from Crittal doors but working strictly to Fire regulations. These doors provide a beautiful visual break from the entrance hall and are a lovely contrast to the pale oak tones used throughout.
